President's Report

Hello Everyone,

As we wrap up the year and shift into holiday mode, I wanted to take a moment to connect, reflect, and let you know what is happening within our chapter. There is good energy moving through our committees and leadership right now and it has been exciting to watch things take shape.

We recently welcomed a few new people into key roles that will help us grow in meaningful ways. David Chand is stepping in as Chair of the Lunch Bunch and will be shaping future lunch and learn opportunities. Wendy Lapp will be leading our Sponsorship Task Force, focusing on building relationships and support for chapter programs. We also now have Rachel from WAM serving as our account manager and we are already feeling the benefit of that added support.

Our work is not done. We would still like to grow participation in both Programs and Tours as well as our Communications and News Crew group. These are great committees for someone who wants to contribute in a fun and manageable way. You do not need a huge time commitment to make a difference. If you have been thinking about getting involved, we would love to talk with you.

I also want to look back for a moment at our recent Facility RX Lunch and Learn. It was a strong event with great discussion, and I believe it helped reinforce the importance of sustainability and air quality in our profession. A sincere thank you to everyone who attended and a special thanks to Jim Zirbel for his support in making the panel a success. Jim continues to do outstanding work with Facilithon, helping introduce students to the world of facility management. This matters more than most people realize because bringing new talent into our industry is critical for our future. If anyone is interested in learning more about Facilithon or assisting in that mission, please reach out. Your involvement could have a meaningful impact.

Looking ahead, we have a couple of upcoming events on the calendar. Our Holiday Party will be held on December 10th at Liberty Station BBQ (special thanks to Mark Schwenn for setting this up). We also have a member gathering taking place on February 5th at Bar Moxy (special thanks to Lindsay Parks for setting this up). Both will be enjoyable, relaxed opportunities to connect with peers. Plus, more information coming soon on some January events and Lunch & Learns.

Another item worth highlighting is our job listing section on the IFMA Madison website. If your organization is hiring, we encourage you to submit openings so we can share them within the chapter. At this time job postings are free for members, and we would like you to take advantage of that benefit.

I am grateful for the work this chapter continues to do and for the people who show up, participate, and help it grow. It has been incredibly rewarding to be part of something that brings value to others, and I am excited for what is ahead.

From myself and the entire Board of Directors, we wish you a wonderful holiday season filled with rest, joy, good company, and ideally very few late-night facility calls.

Warm regards
Tony Wantoch
President, IFMA Madison

Birdie Brigade

The Birdie Brigade plans and promotes one of the few annual "can't miss" event in Madison. This golf outing takes place in June and the weather is always perfect!

Lunch Brunch

Lunch Bunch is the team responsible for the monthly lunch meetings, which are always the third Tuesday of the month at various locations around the Madison area. Our responsibilities include confirming with programs & Tours the needs of the speaker for the month and working with the venue provider on accommodation of any special needs. Our team members check in all attendees, including members and guests, and collect the lunch fees. We introduce any guests to Member Squad for a formal IFMA Madison welcome and to provide guess with answers to any questions they might have.

Member Squad

Member Squad (Membership committee) strives to increase overall membership in the chapter while increasing FM professional membership and involvement.

News Crew

The News Crew (Communications Committee) provides the chapter with communication from leadership, member/committee news, educational opportunities and events.

Professional Development

Led by facility managers, this committee is committed to advancing professional development across the industry through peer learning and hands-on skill training.

The team will coordinate at least two FM-focused roundtable discussions each year, identifying timely topics and crafting moderator questions. Additionally, the committee will plan and deliver trade skill-building sessions for maintenance teams by identifying training needs and collaborating with vendors to host, sponsor, and deliver instruction. Working closely with WAM, the committee will promote all offerings, recruit sponsors, and engage members to ensure broad participation and value across the FM community.

Programs & Tours

The Show and Go Committee provides monthly programs and tours that promote the 9 core competencies as determined by the International Facility Management Association. We utilize members and outside experts to present programs and arrange for evening or weekend tours of facilities in the Madison area, and occasionally beyond. The tours are educational in that they show aspects of the facilities that are not evident to the casual visitor.

Sponsorship Task Force

Sponsorship Task Force holds an annual sponsorship drive every January through March to give local business an opportunity to support IFMA Madison and promote their services.
