Title: "All I Need is the Air I Breathe" - An Update on IAQ: Challenges and Solution Strategies
Research by EPA has documented that, in any given building, approximately 20% of the occupants have
symptoms at work that go away when they leave the building. What factors turn that “norm” into a full blown IAQ problem? What do you do when your options for investigation have been exhausted? This session will describe a tool that can be used to bring those investigations to a close.
Speaker Bio:
Sharon Bessa began her career as a nurse and is grateful every day for the path that led to a career in Industrial Hygiene. Who else, she says, gets to watch appliances assembled, truck parts welded, metal castings sand-blasted, drugs manufactured, and a tonsillectomy – all in the same week?! And she gets to go behind all those doors that say “Authorized Personnel Only!”
Sharon worked for OSHA for seven years before starting her own business 31 years ago! She has been an instructor on IAQ for the Building Operator Certification program for the Midwest Energy Efficiency Alliance and Focus on Energy for over ten years.
In addition to taking air samples in manufacturing environments, Sharon has completed air quality studies in a very wide variety of worksites including schools, hospitals, clinics, casino security suites, department stores, animal research rooms, correctional facilities, and, of course, office buildings.
